Please help me fix "Page Cannot Be Displayed" loop..
Hey,
I've had this problem for a long time. It's just gotten to me lately. If I click on a dead link, I get this message: C:\WINDOWS\dnserror.htm#http://******** If that wasn't a link, try this one: [URL]=C:\WINDOWS\dnserror.htm#http://[*url]]this Basically, it's the "This Page Cannot be Displayed" message, but it's got all these stupid weblinks for Electronics, Gambling, Adult, etc. And it will always be accompanied by a pop-up or two. The thing that bugs me about it is that it's a loop. You can't click "back" to the previous page, it just reloads the current error page. So if I'm web-surfing, it takes time to go back and follow the links to where I was before the dead link. I'm hoing this is just some stupid setting I can change or something I can delete. By the way, I've deleted all temporary internet files and cookies. Thanks guys.

Those links give it a way as being spyware. A ligit, this page can not be displayed notice will, if it gives any link, give the link to the home page of the site you were trying to access. Spybot and Adaware are the two leading spyware programs. I personally use Spybot. It does a great job, has a user friendly interface and help forums at the Spybot site. You should be able to find Spybot and/or Adaware here; http://www.cnet.com/ Be sure to read the Help file before running the programs. They give you a good idea of what the program does and what you need to do. Good luck, EF |
