How Can I Upgrade IE5.0 to IE5.5

Several weeks ago I installed Win2000 Pro and it included IE 5.0.
When I was on Win98se I remembered trying IE5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 and the fastest most responsive was 5.5. On Win98se I used a program called IEradicator to uninstall IE 5.0 and 6.0 but I don't think this program works with win2000 pro. The Microsoft Web site no longer has download upgrades to ie5.5. I have a copy of the IE5.5 installer on my drive. If I began the install process of IE5.5 would it allow me to upgrade my current version of IE5.0 or would it just install IE 5.5 so I would then have two versions.

Other than that is there any other way to uninstall IE5.0 so I can install IE5.5.

If you have the installer, it should just install as an upgrade. However, there's nothing wrong with 5.0 on 2K, and 6.0 also works well, unlike a lot of 98 installations. Windows Update will have the patches for 5.0 to secure it fairly well.

Thanks, I think my system at 266mhz might be a little weak for IE6.0 and that is why IE 5.5 performed better with Win98se but it could also be that the win2000 might function better than 98. In any case I don't have much to lose if I can upgrade to 5.5.

The problem with 5.5 is you can no longer download its service packs, and Windows Update won't offer them either. I had a customer with a printing issue with 5.5, and I couldn't get the needed updates to fix it, the only 5.5 I had on CD was SP1 and it needed SP2. I had to roll them back to 5.0.
