HELP! how to speed up my modem?

hi,
i feel that my new v.92 modem is quite slow.. for your info... i m using win xp and how can i change my mtu speed of my modem so dat it'll operate faster....

There isn't much you can really do, unfortunately. You can change the top connection speed to 115200, but that doesn't really seem to do anything.

If you're using IE, try using Opera or Mozilla instead. They're much snappier browsers and load pages faster.

I thought IE was the fastest browser.
well you could upgrade your internet connection.

Some of it is modem brand dependent. Not all modems are equal.
I bought a $10, V. 92 Intell fax/voice winmodem so that people could call me while I'm online which I am told is only possible with V.92 modems. The modem was the pits. I had the up to date drivers and everything but it was super slow.

Then I bought $10, V.92 Modem Blaster fax/voice winmodem with the conexant chip and that was faster than the Intel Modem but it was slower than my US Robotics nonwinmodem and on top of that, the Modem Blaster seemed to slow down as downloading time went on.

So for the moment I've said to heck with V.92 and went back to the nonwin US Robotics modem.
