After installing inoculate in computer when running the first 100 files instead of stopping at 100 it goes to about 1300 files and then it stops. Is this normal?

That did that on my windowsME machine once. Not again.
It did (innoculateIT) blue screen my win2k machine a few times, took it off.

Open the program, click options and options wizard. Click "next" until you get to Progressive Scan Options. Set the # to whatever you wish. I believe the default is 100. If you don't want a startup scan, uncheck it in msconfig.

I got mine programmed to check just 100 files at start up,but it did run on once to check a thousand or so, next boot it was back to the set figure of 100., and has been ever since. I wonder at the value of this 100 at a time checking coz eventually it gets around to checking temp internet files, we do a lot on the internet here, i reckon it checks less files than we are adding from the internet each session so actually goes nowhere until we clear out the caches. Dunno for sure but thats my guess. I'd say it was best to allow innoculate to check all your files when you dont need the PC and just leave it to work in the background scanning just the new stuff in the knowledge that all the old stuff on your drives is clean of viruses and stop that scan 100 files business forever.

Version 5.2.5 (supports Windows ME) is now available.
However, one has to go to their Web site to download it. A « Tools/AutoDownload » will not do it. |

I think that it just sometimes scans more than asked to after an installation. I found this problem happening a lot in Win98, and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling it. After a while, I just left it alone and the problem stopped. I think I had a software conflict with it one of the times.

while on the subject of inoculate IT. I've in recent days received my virus protection update notice, however the download doesnt complete and i get a message saying that an error has occurred receiving files from the site. Anyone had this happen to them this week?
Thanks and merry xmas from Australia. |
