You're one of the few, besides Fred.

Is the java working ok with your download? It seemed to be working totally independent of the browser when i d/l netscape6. so independent in fact, it showed as a seperate program in the program list. Nice looking fascia i must say but really quite hopeless as a browser. For you who may be interested i've got a cable modem, the provider recommends IE but netscape 4.7 is loads faster. Good luck Prader.

After trying Netscape 6 over and over, I found Beonex 0.6. It just happens to be the same as NS6 without all the extra's to screw it up, It uses Mozilla 6 engine so far no problems

Java is separate, even puts an icon (icon is for a console that doesn't appear to have any useable features) on the systray. I haven't had any problems with NS6, yet.

NS6 has shown nothing but problems, here.
First the installer kept crashing the system (this happened on six different machines). NS support responded to this problem (after ten days) with a note that basically said they figured I'd gotten support elsewhere by now, but if I wanted to call them up on the phone and pay them money, they might consider helping. Once I finally got it to install, the JAVA especially is a problem -- slow and jumpy compared to NS4.X or IE; and it appears to just refuse to run many applets (I was touring JavaBoutique.com with it... lol.) As for speed, the fool thing crawls -- and in the grand tradition of NS browsers before it, seems to crash randomly whenever it pleases. It is pretty, though... |
