On a PC running Netscape 4.08, the existing Profile seems to have disappeared. When trying to run either Communicator or Navigator, Netscape requests a new PROFILE.
I guess this means that the old one has disappeared.
This is tragic for the customer, 'cos all his data, address book etc. is in the old Profile!
Can't get Windows to find any other Netscape User files.
Also when I set up a new Profile to get back in to Netscape, it won't let me alter any of the parms in Edit/Preferences.
He's going crazy as he hasn't backed anything up.
So, how can I get back the old Profile and/or how to access the data? Where is it?

It *should* be in c:\program files\netscape\users.

You can search for prefs.js or bookmark.htm - there will be one of these in every profile.

glc, interesting that you mention the Users directory. I'm using Netscape as a browser only (4.5)& have no Users directory in the Netscape folder, only ISU & Programs.
Am off to the customer tomorrow armed with EasyRecovery, so will try to get to the bottom of this missing Profile, or at least the emails which the customer needs.

glc, thanks for the detailed directory contents. I ran EasyRecovery (nice bit of s/w) & located an old Inbox, UnSent etc. which I saved/restored to the customers User directory. Unfortunately, Netscape did not appear to want to use this data, as it still shows the "new" Local Directories which were created after having installed version 4.7, although it did pick up the existing Mail Account. Strange, not the easiest Mail Program to work with. I've saved the data, so I'll do a few test on my Netscape 4.5

Got the email account set up but unable to send/receive mail automatically i.e. using Get Mail - Netscape returned an error "Unable to locate XXXXXXX server". If I go in via Dial Up Networking, then email works okay. Not sure where the problem is.
