Browser, Browser, Browser

Seems like Coke vs. Pepsi, chocolate vs. vanilla, etc. I was a long-time fan of IE and its versions and even dabbled in Netscape. A particular somebody I know still uses an ancient NS. I currently have IE 6, the latest Opera at others' arm-twistin', and also Mozilla Firebird. I ain't used IE in a moon and it took some force. The Firebird is now my choice as it does what I want, blocks pop-ups and simply feels right.

You and glc both did, you old goats. I tried the earlier versions of Opera and they always seemed faster, and I'll admit the newest is even snappier. Still, between the 3 I keep using Firebird, as it "feels" right.

interesting.. firebird uses about 16MB of memory at startup but each subsequent window only adds about 1.5MB and shows as only one application on task manager. IE actually uses 16MB for each window that's open and shows as separate processes in task manager.

I will wait until they tidy things up with Firebird first. At least they are correcting most of their Mozilla browser "features".

I use Opera as my primary browser but I have Mozilla 1.4 also - which I hear is going to be the last version. I'll probably switch to Firebird when they get to the 1.x release.

128-bit encryption is standard everywhere now. It is no longer an issue, as the incredibly stupid law that banned the export of encryption stronger than 40-bit is gone, so the old "Does it support 128-bit encryption?" question is not very relevant. It would be extraordinary and worth mentioning if it didn't support 128-bit encryption.

I stay away from betas as well.

I'm using Mozilla 1.4 now, started using the browser after the 1.0 version came out.

How IE users survive without tabbed windows is beyond me, I love em .

You might also try out www.netcaptor.com. Another very interesting take on IE.
