Do you know what types of pictures that you're having trouble with. .GIFs, .JPEGs, etc.?

It does this to me on my old computer sometimes, when I have too much load on the ram I think. When there is too many ie windows like 8-10 the images won't load at all...

I was thinking along the lines of there being something up with your settings in IE. But if the pics are loading in your first few windows but aren't loading later on, that pretty much rules that out. 64MB may not be enough memory to handle what you have going on. You may want to see if increasing the space that you have allocated for virtual memory helps. Control Panel > System > Performance Tab > Virtual Memory.

Evo, were you able to figure out if it was a particular type of pic that wasn't loading? Also, what versions of Windows and IE are you running?

To find out what pics aren't loading, right-click on the red-x that you're getting and select properties. Do this to a few pics. To get the version of IE select Help > About.

Okay, I've got a couple of things that you can try. This problem has popped up for me and a couple of other board members plus plenty of other IE users. It seems to be a problem that can have many causes. Here are some possible solutions. I hope one of these helps you out.
First, check for a file named "HOSTS" on your hard drive. Rename it to something like HOSTSBAK. If that doesn't help then check for these two registry keys, and delete them. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Name-Space Handler\ftp] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Name-Space Handler\http] This is a MS Knowledge base artice about the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283807 If none of the above help then this link http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/ieimage.htm contains info about this type of problem and has links to more MS articles regarding the problem. |
