Use mostly Netscape 4.76. (yep, old, but like it) Last fall, installed 7.0. Used both, but mostly 4.76. Around July 4th, I suddenly got an error message on my computer when I turned it on.....Warning of a configuration problem. I just clicked o.k. and everything seemed fine, ran normal. Then I tried to use the 7.0....and found that my home page had reverted to Netscape, which was thanking me for downloading 7.0...and I had to set up my mail program all over. I changed the theme from Toy Factory to Classic, closed down. When I next went back, again got the configuration warning message, and the 7.0 was back to the "open your account, etc. Using the add/delete program feature, I "deleted the 7.0 Netscape .....then downloaded it again. Took 3 hours. Same thing happened. Called in tech person. He deleted and reinstalled again (7.1) from a disk, had to register everything. After some time, found the offending script error, deleted it, deleted deleted the 7.1, reininstalled 7.1,and all seemed well. (it has a built in ad popper stopper...works soooooo well)
Except......get an error message when trying to write an e-mail, saying an error occurred when trying to create a message window. Cannot reply, forward, create new. The guy came back today, tried everything under the sun, as I have. Noticed that when deleting the 7.1, then reinstalling it.....no wizard. all the settings and things from the last fall install are right there, including the bookmarks. I have tons more bookmarks in my 4.76 so not getting them from there. Anyone have any idea what may be the problem. Have emptied cache, but really, nothing in it.....lol. My 4.76 works fine. Something is corrupted or missing...but WHAT? Help!

You should try Mozilla 1.4 from Mozilla.org If you like Netscape, it has all the features but not all of the add on junk and is another time faster.
