Earthlink cable internet - any suggestions?

For the last week my Earthlink cable internet through Time Warner Cable has had extremely slow page or loads and at times even fails to load. I called the techline after I did all the things I could think of and of course they had me do the same things over to satisfy their process.

The main thing seems to be that my connection justs drops out periodically. They say my signal is superb but the dropping signal confused them. I get anything from 0 to 100% packet loss at various times. When I do a speed test I get anywhere from 30 to 1,800Kb/s thouroghput.

After the first call they sent out a tech and she replaced a few connections outside and one splitter. She tested and said it seemed better. The next night it started doing it again (don't know about daytime as I am not home). So, I called again and they thought maybe I had a flaky modem as the connection would drop out but my cable light stays on all the time.

So, I went and exchanged their Toshiba pcx2200 with their pcx2500 model. Tonight I have the same problems.

Any thoughts or help appreciated. This is concerning the machine in my sig.

i used to have earthlink dial-up and the exact same thing happened on both of my comps. i think its just the isp that sucks

Earthlink does NOT suck. I'll take it over any other national ISP.
