downloading pictures

I have recently developed a problem with downloading pictures from the net. In the drop down menu under 'Tools' / 'Internet Options' / 'Advanced' / 'Multimedia' the check box foe 'show pictures' is ticked (as always), but my PC will now not download images any more and I have to go through the tedious process of 'right clicking' each and every one!
Now this has only happened since I downloaded Yahoo Messenger and so I tried to remove it. This made no difference. I also reloaded windows ME again over the top (without wiping) which has helped with a few gliches in the past, but to no avail this time.
I have now run out of ideas and, beyond checking the 'show pictures' box as before, can think of no reason.
Can anyone throw light on this subject?

Also try cleaning out your Temporary Internet Cache folder and doing a repair of IE.

Not displaying graphics can be due to a setting in Norton Internet Security. If you have that program installed, fiddling around with its settings might resolve the problem.

sounds like regclean might help:

also, sometimes when settings are ticked and a program messes them up, you can uncheck the box, reboot and check it again. this "toggle" sometimes will force a problem setting back to normal.
you could also try repairing IE by going to add/remove programs...if you try to remove it (which you can't) you will be given the option to repair. try this, maybe it will force things back the way they were. good luck, and be sure to post back to let us know how you made out.
