Is it possible, for a website,, to gain access to your email address without you knowing it? if so, can some one explain how this could happen, and how to avoid this.

Not really. However they could guess it. For instance, when you visit a website, certain things like your user name that you are logged on to your computer with and your ip address are stored in the log files. So if you were logged on to your computer as dan and your IP address was one from Earthlink, then they could guess your email address was dan@earthlink.net.

I don't know of any that do this, since there are other ways of getting email addresses and this takes some work without a lot of success.
