Firewall Coruppting Downloads?
Lately I have been getting messed up downloads. zip, exe, rar, anything gets messed up. well I took a guess and turned off my firewall and tried to download again and it worked fine. Why would my firewall do that? I'm using Sygate firewall. The only thing that changed was I set up an advaced rule to block port 135, but i even took that off and the download still corrupted.

Where are you trying to download the files from?

Websites or P2P? Can you trust the source of these files? Have you scanned for virii and trojans?

There are some trojans that attack firewalls, that could be an explanation.
Otherwise, it really doesn't make sense. A firewall should no more corrupt a download than it should corrupt a website. Data is data, and the firewall is just supposed to pass it on. |

I don't know what else it could be though. If it were a trojan attacking just the firewall I still don't understand how it could corrupt downloads.

I fixed it by unchecking Enable anti-IP spoofing and Enable OS Fingerprint masquerading under the secruity tab in the options
