internet explorer 4.0 update
My friend has an older gateway computer running IE 4.0, I have tried to update it using microsfts download center. I tried to download IE 6.0 but it will not let me because it says you need IE 5.0 or higher. I cannot find IE 5.0 either, any suggestions on updating this computer to a higher IE?? Thanks for any help.

wow, that is an amazingly terrible server! I was told 23 hours for the download and I have 1.5 MPS cable modem. That is ridiculous. Guess I have to retract my praise for the link....

FlashGet is a download program that will noy only speedup downloads but you can do other things on your computer without the download slowing other things down including surfinng the net or doing other downloads. you can google to find it.

The best version of IE for Win95/98 is 5.5 SP2, get that from the Evolt site. It's about 84 megs.
