The "New" AOL 9 Optimized
Because my wife wanted to keep her aol account, I'm stupid enuf to have paid $10/mo even tho we've been on broadband for over 2 years. The new aol software just downloaded on my XP system and I can't believe this bloated crap. It added Quicktime, 5 icons on the desktop, makes itself and Quicktime start when I boot up, and doesn't even bother to remove the old version (aol 8.0) from the system. Needless to say, I quickly solved all those problems. Now when I just went to check email, it offered me this "slick" new option to install all my email on my hard drive for later off line viewing!! What the H**L are these idiots thinking? Guess it's time to convince the wife it's time to pull the plug on AOL and save the $120 a year (which goes back to $15/mo in Dec)

I was annoyed by the "new" AOL 9.0 too Panama Red. But I dont have to pay anything. My father was a life-time member to a company that AOL had bought out. They give us 500 minutes free a month and gave him an AOL credit card. The card gives us free minutes for every dollar you spend. Very nice.
Although the Quicktime, five icons did suck. But all you have to do is delete the icons and in your taskbar alter the options of Quicktime not to start when you log onto XP. I am sure you knew that though...
