I was just curious if anyone on this forum has tried the newest version of the Opera browser yet. I downloaded the freeware version(ad banner) and using it right now. It appears to work great. It seems to load pages very smoothly, and once you get used to it, is very easy to use. Also, the pages look crisper than with IE or Netscape. I am still learning the features but they look promising.
Anybody not liked it or had amny problems when they tried to use it? Ron |

The only query does anybody know how you can get Opera Bookmarks and IE Favorites to share the same folder, without having to have 2 separate folders for all you fav
links. I know you can transfer your fav from IE to Opera, but that does not help if I use both Browsers, so when I bookmark a site in IE, I want that site to be available in Opera without any importing etc. Other than that its pretty good browser, and certainly is faster than IE. Scott |

You would need to use a third party Bookmark manager. IE and Opera use different formats for thier bookmarks/favorites.
There are many available that offer more functions/features than those that are native to the browsers. Plus they are available to any program that accesses the web. A tip for mozilla and opera users : open up a history window in Opera and save it as an HTML file, then open it in mozilla and you can quickly bookmark (in mo)any site that you have visited in Opera. |

Opera needs a few fixes to be a great browser. As mentioned before, some sites do not load correctly with Opera (same is true of Netscape 6 by the way). Bookmarks on Blink.com do not work with Opera. I like using Opera because it is fast and it has some cool features (like zoom), however, it is frustrating in that I often need to use another browser to view certain pages (e.g., hotmial).

Well at one time I was nothing but a Netscape man, until the final release of Netscape 6 came out. Netscape really screwed up, they blew their one chance of ever being able to compete with IE. As far as Opera goes it seems to be really fast and has some nice features, but you have to crack that ad banner junk. I could really care less about the Java issues because I don't want to see those pop up ad banners anyway.

Opera -bookmarks
Opera 5.1 has saved my sanity. I've been going back and forth from/to IE 5 to 5.5, trying to stop a gradual slowing down. After five or so moves from site to site, IE virtually stops dead. I occasionally can get it going again, but it was so hopeless I moved to Opera. Fast and pleasant. For bookmarks, check out Powermarks (www.kaylon.com) for a useful, intelligent bookmark manager. Free to try.
