HTTP server and college firewall

i am trying to set up an http server to share my programming code between my dorm and the computer lab but i am unable to find an open port... i scanned all of my ports and everyone of them is stealth... i can access my http server from any of the dorms but all of the admin and labs are on a seperate server so i can't get throught the firewall on the dorms... anyone know a way i could get this to work???

any help would be greatly appreciated...

The firewall exists to prevent exactly what you are trying to do. Without working with the network administrators and trying to make some sort of deal, you are stuck.

I think this may be a bad idea. What happens if a few people start sharing songs or something and the RIAA starts coming after you? I saw a scenario just like this on the news. You could use a newsgroup to do this if your school offers that as a possible option. Also MSN has an area for setting up groups. You may want to look into that as an option.

You could put it on some webspace somewhere. Either a free site or a low cost one. You could also use .htaccess to put it in a passworded directory.

That's about your best solution, you can get webhosting these days for ~10 dollars a month if your space and bandwidth requirements are small.

GoDaddy has a basic $3.95 a month hosting package, and domain registration is $8.95 a year.
