With the browser open click on TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>ADVANCED and scroll down the list to SEARCHING and pick the option you want.

Then click the PROGRAMS tab at the top.

In the lower left side there is a button that says RESET WEB SETTINGS and below that is a check box for IE to check to see if it is the default browser.

Make sure that box is checked and then click the RESET WEB SETTINGS button.

Another window will pop up to reset the home page.

Uncheck that box and then click yes or OK.

Click OK at the bottom of the next window and close all instances of IE.

When you reopen IE it should function the way you want it to unless she has installed some sort of 3rd party browser toolbar or extension.

Hope this helps.

Hi, tried that but for some reason it keeps reverting to do not search from the address bar, please it appears to be wanting to search the intranet, which I don't have.

First, go to this page and download lspfix.exe. Don't run it, just remember where you saved it. That's because some spyware will mess up the winsock when you get rid of it and you won't be able to get back online. That little exe file will fix it.

Then look in Control Panel>Add Remove programs for anything unfamiliar or with a name that indicates it's something you don't want or need. If you find something, or several somethings, uninstall it (them). The usual suspects are Hotbar, SaveNow and a few others whose names I've forgotten.

If you haven't scanned for spyware, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or AdAware (you can use them both.) Let whichever one you choose clean up any spyware it finds.

Finally, if none of that did the trick, download and run CWShredder from
this SpywareInfo page.
