dose any one know if the google site is down as i can not connect to it ?

Flush your DNS cache, they are routing through Akamai this weekend due to the Qhosts worm.

XP caches all DNS requests for faster browsing, so it doesn't have to go out and ask your ISP's DNS for the address every time you want to load a site where you have been before.
To flush, type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS at a command prompt. |

98SE doesn't cache DNS.
