Download Speed w/ Router

I use KaZaA (w/ Diet KaZaA) to download videos/songs. I would average 100-200 kb/s. Then I bought a Linksys 4-Port (computer) router and im sharing it with 1 other computer. Now, with KaZaA (w/ Diet KaZaA) I get no more then dialup speed. I average now, seriously, 1-5 kb/s for videos or/and songs. Anything that I can do to increase it whatso-ever? This is a dramatic decrease in speed, but just for KaZaA. Other downloads dont decrease this seriously (like from dedicated servers). Can someone tell me any tricks or tips to get my speed increasing? Thx!

What router is it?? On the linksys you have to enable and set the MTU to 1492, but your problem could be in your PC now that it is a true lan connection. Go to www.dslreports.com
and do the tweak test and it will give U pointers for some registry tweaks that I know did wonders for my DSL speeds....

Cool

I don't use Kazaa but my download speeds aren't affected at all going thru my router. I would look for something else as the problem other than the router.

Assuming U have the Linksys router its on the filters page which is accessed by clicking on the advanced tab and it will be the first page to come up. Go down to the very bottom...

Soon as U acces the router it's the tab furthest to the right, Also on that page U want to be sure block wan requests is enabled. That's your built in firewall...Are we talking about the Linksys router here???

Use your web browser and type:
192.168.1.1
in the nav bar
default password is admin

EDIT:
Studying your original post closer I see it is only on that kaza site, so there probably is no real problem that can do anything about...Still won't hurt to do the above suggested things though....

Router shouldn't effect download speed- it may just be a coincidence.

Another thing, in kazaa you can only download as fast as the other users computer will let you. They may have dialup or have set there upload speed to 1.
