E-bay signin problem

Can't seem to sign into Ebay/My Ebay... as soon as I enter the password I get an Illegal Operation notice. Here's the text:
Quote:
EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0197:bff87ede.
This also happens in certain other sites that don't require sign-in. IE: Andal, ESPN, various others.

TIA

Yea.. no help! I went through all those places. What you show doesn't go past the year 2000. I downloaded Opera for the dude to use untill we figure out how to fix it. All works well with Opera.

Other fix attempts have included completely re-installing windows 98 SE, along with redoing critical updates & SP1. It still won't work.

Did you try scanning the system? I had a similar problem in my dell ME. Mine doesn't do an illegal op but it hangs when I click sign-in on most webpages. I did a system scan and found a worm.

We did that. Housecall (Trend Micro) found some virus that meant deletion of some Java files and others. Also AdAware came up with 100+ bad boys. I believe the system to be pretty well cleaned out. In fact, I think possibly something was thrown out that may be causing this.
