I managed to setup the program on my pc. I am going to register a domain name. On the main window, it states that my homepage is http://ibm/ and that is my pc. Anyone can tell me how to change that to my domain name ?? Thanks.

You can't really host a domain on your PC with just PWS. There are other issues - DNS being the major one.

Cool

First question is do you have a DHCP address or a static IP?

Send a message via AIM to mosquito
Second question. Is it allowed by your provider? (usually not.)

I want to do the same thing. I also run Win98SE with PWS, and have a cable connection on 24/7, and would like to transfer my domain which is with a hosting company to my home PC. I have a dynamic IP address.

So, am I right, that if I host my web site on my home PC, I need to setup an account with a dns company, and have a program that is constantly updating my ip address to the dns company. The set my domain to point towards my dns address, which inturn points to my web site on my PC.

OK, this is the long and hard way, but is there another option with a dynamic IP address?

slewis - the first thing you need to do is find out if your cable provider allows domain hosting on customers' machines. Here in the US, this is generally not allowed with residential accounts. You have to get a "business" grade cable or DSL account to legally do this. Staying with the hosting company is a lot cheaper.

Well, web hosting on a home PC is not really allowed but, but home personal use, to trial, and learn how it works I rekon I could get away with it. I just have to monitor the numbr of hits.

But how. My previous posts gives a way but is there an easier one.
