How can I keep IE 5.5 from downloading zip files to a temp drive?
It seems like this happens then somehow I fix it then it happens again. I have a specific place I like to download everything to. How can I make sure all of my downloads go exactly where I want them to? When I click on a link to download that is zipped, it automatically downloads to a temp folder and then Zipmagic displays it. It used to just ask save it to disk and then I could tell it where to save. HELP |

Go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - AddRemove and click on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and a window will open. Click on the Repair Tool button and run the Repair Tool and see if that makes a difference. When you click on something for a download, it should always give you the option where to store it unless you are using a weird ISP like AOL. I've had a lot of problems but never that one but if I had that problem, I'd first run the repair tool and take it from there.
I also wonder if when you have your Java Scripts disabled if that could keep your save as download window from being activated since it's possible that such a window on a download could be activated by a Java Script. [Edited by Harry on 01-12-2001 at 03:19 AM] |

Look in the properties of ZipMagic. Disable the auto view/open portion, or delete Zipmagic completely.
This is NOT an IE problem. |
