Cannot access website but can from work

This one has me and many others stumped. Kudos for those that have an answer.

I have another forum I access www.toyota-4runner.org but I can only access it from work through our proxy. I cannot access it from a DSL or a Cable connection we use at work, and my wife cannot access who is working in a different company through their proxy in another city in our state. I tried using the cable connection using my companies VPN and without. I can access any other site but not this one. Then I did a search on www.google.com using the following information “4runner forums” and about the 3rd one down is the link to www.toyota-4runner.org and even if we click that it still does not let me access it. When we cannot access it we get the following information:

“The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.”

Well I know the site is not down because I can access it, enter information and check to see if that information is there.

I even tried through IP and that brought me to a website saying there is no webpage there.

I really am stumped and so is my wife who specializes in webpages.

If I had to guess I would say that there is probably a DNS error or your host has shutdown the site. You can do a search on Google and find a cached copy. Even the images don't show and they don't show by putting the path to them in your browser. You are probably using a cached copy on your proxy server at work. So you need to check with your host.

FYI all of the traceroutes and pings to your site showed the same thing, a host not found error which should be DNS.

So you think the problem resides with the owner of the site or their host?

It has to. DNS is controlled by whatever settings are made on the registar end, usually by the owner to point it to the hosts nameservers. The host would then have to make entries on that nameserver to point to the proper server (IP address). A whois lookup says that the domain was created on 11/5/2002 and was changed on 11/6/2004. More than likely the domain name expired and was renewed today rather frantically. Give the DNS servers about 24 hours and it should start showing back up. That is if the owner renewed or if someone else grabbed it.

Here is the whois info:

Yeah it is. In case you are interested, there is a thread with an explanation of what happened.

Thread

Explanation:
I was thinking the same thing when I first saw it was down yesterday Actually it was totally my fault. I hadn't checked my e-mail in a week and I missed the one sent on Nov. 1st saying the domain was gonna expire on Nov. 5. When I checked my e-mail yesterday (the 6th) and read that e-mail I was like OH S**T!! So I renewed the domain yesterday and the site is coming back up as the domain repropagates.
