XP & IE Vs Netscape
Hi,
Just an issue I've experienced (and a friend of mine too) when using IE & NS7 on XP pro. IE seems 'slower' to do just about everything compared to NS. I used both with a modem connection at just over 5kbps and NS loads pages faster etc.. My pal was a die-hard IE fan but even he switched to NS7 as he found the speed so much better. I have always used NS from 4.X up and never liked IE (version 4.x was the killer for me here...crash,crash,burn). Just got broadband (YEAH BABY) and still the speed difference is noticable between the two browsers. IMHO security wise NS is much easier to set up and maintain than IE. You're constantly looking around IE for stuff it's d/led without your knowledge and having to use a proggy like 'Window Washer' to clean up the mess. Just my 2 cent but I think IE is the poor relation. Netscape it is and always will be .

If you think netscape is good-try mozilla. Netscape is built on it. Its faster than NS

Hi,
Will Mozilla run on XP? If so where can I get it from? I've 'seen' it on Linux in work (programmers PC's) but never used it. If NS is based on it then it's good enough for me! |

Netscape is essentially Mozilla plus AOL crap.
You might want to try Firebird - it's based on the Mozilla browser and is *just* a browser, no e-mail, composer, chat, IM, etc. You can have multiple browsers on your system, they won't interfere with each other. |

glc,
Any suggestions for a mail client then? Pegasus (which I've used many years ago) seemed quite good. However I won't be going down the Outlook route for love nor money! |

I liked Pegasus as well.
Another browser to look at could be Opera www.opera.com It's a pretty slick Mozilla browser. The free version is all you need. |

I use Pegasus, it gets my vote. |
