From Netscape 7.1 to Mozilla 1.5

Hi,
Thanks to the feedback I got from you guys I d/led and installed Mozilla. Was a bit concerned initially but said *** (if I can say that here )

Anyhow, install went OK with a few niggles that a reboot sorted. After that Mozilla found ALL my settings for NS 7.1.....bookmarks, mail etc......I am impressed!

Display seems similar but themes ROCK. Can't get these with NS 7.1 One prob I found was that I couldn't access my Netscape webmail account from within the browser. Not a 'major' big deal but it would have been the icing.

All told, Mozilla is smaller and it IS faster than N7......and IE.......???

So far so good. Wouldn't let me post here until I cleared the cookie cache (kept asking me to log in..?) but then all was well once more!

I know there are a lot of you guys with Linux etc but it seems that Mozilla is quicker again than NS7 and I have broadband.......still seems quicker. I used Netscape with a modem for 3 years nearly and it was always quicker than IE.

What is the diff between NS and Mozilla? I know that NS is built on Mozilla but how does that effect the speed od the thing?

Mozilla. Great browser ...(So Far)

Mozilla IS a lot faster than N7. More like striped down bowser. You want just a browser, try the firebird

Hi mystvearn
Now don't get me wrong! I like NS but Mozilla seems to be quicker. Don't just want a browser.....need email too which works apart from the Netscape webmail.

Finally, tried launching NS7 but was asked to choose a profile.......so Mozilla must be/is using my NS profile. This is great as all my settings etc have been imported to Mozilla.

I've used Pegasus before but NS/Mozilla maill client ain't too bad either!

Hi Fred, I to am having a bit of a slow down with the site as well using Mozilla. Normally I use Mozilla Firebird but PCMech won't even load with it right now.

Hi jimmie,
Doesn't appear to be browser specific. Tried IE (uuuuggghh) and just a blank page too. Probably the site is doing a back up and we're on the backup server..??!

Apart from that I don't know.....but it is dog slow.

What do the co-ordinates in you 'location' point too? And if this is gonna get into a big discussion then maybe Xayd could move these posts to the 'General' forum?

It is my GPS in Roswell, New Mexico home of the UFO crash. I don't like to put in the actuall name of city and state due to a lot of questions on UFO's. Like "Seen any aliens lately?" It gets a little old after a whille.

Hi jimmie,
Area 51 springs to mind. Do people live around this mysterious place.....and if so do you? I'm not gonna bug ya with 'treker' type questions.....I'm just curious that's all.

Annoying folk ain't my style. Tell me what you want (or nothing at all) and it's good with me.......I'm just curious

Area 51 is in Nevada most folks link the two together. I'm not a big UFO enthusiast so I'm not up on all the details. I don't disbelieve that their is other life forms in our universe, I just don't get into it like so many people do. I know some people here in Roswell who have given up great jobs and careers elsewhere to move here because they think they will find aliens and that is just too much IMHO.

Hi jimmie,
Don't worry about it. I've had the same kind of experience while in college in Sweden. They thought I lived in a war zone when 'the troubles' were in Northern Ireland.

I was asked to the English classes at the college and gave a little history on the whole thing. I could see their eyes opening before my eyes.........

There's more to this story but this ain't the forum for it

Where is Xayd?

The forum problems today were due to the adservers I believe.

Netscape is simply Mozilla that AOL has added their bloat to.

Hi guys,
glc, I'm using it now and it's a breeze. Mail works...everything works...just like Netscape. However the choice of themes is WAY better
