Internet Explorer running very slow

hey everyone,

I've been having this problem with IE lately, where everytime i open it up, it takes forever to load up my homepage, or even access other websites. I dont believe its my internet connection because all other applications (like AIM, games, icq, etc), run fine. Sometimes, IE will lock up also. I've scanned for viruses and spyware/adaware. Im running google toolbar also if that helps. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

oh yea....also, disk cleanup hasnt been working either. It will get stuck on "compressing old files", and never move from there

(running XP by the way)

thanks for the help

At the top of the browser click Tools, internet options, and should be on general tab. Delete cookies, delete files (check mark delete offline content as well) and clear history. This won't clear it all, so get this freebie:

Seems there were some other tips but they're in a file at my other house.

thanks for the reply. after using the program and such it seems to be working faster, however the disk cleanup still isnt working? It used to take less than a minute to compress the old files, but now its not doing it at all. any suggestions?

I don't recommend you compress old files.

Don't compress files. It is not a good idea. There should be an option in the disk clean-up utility for that.
