Angry Outlook was flooded!!!

I dont believe it!I got 250 mail in just 1 day!It took me about an hour to download all the mails through my dialup.
And worst, more than half of them were spam!I tried to unsubscribe them by each from their 'unsubscribe' tab but still I'll receive them after a week or so.Is the 'unsubscribe 'relialable?
I've use Cloudmark's spam scanning software but the fact is:I dont want spam flooding in!!..well at least not 100..Anyone have the solution??

DO NOT USE the unsubscribe. Using it lets the spammer know your address is a valid address.

The real soultion is do not use e mail, but as this draconian measure is unrelaistic, here are some suggestions

1) Have at least tho if not three email address's, one you give out only to family and friends, one you only give out to business you can trust and you want their e mail, third one goes to everyone else. You closely monitor the first, and then not so much the rest.
2) Always opt out of e mail notice's uless you are really wanting lots of mail from them and their 'partners' (read spam)
3) Do not use the unsubscribe feature, as mentioned above this serves as an address validation and your email address is NOT removed, in fact your confirmed e mail address is now worth more to anyone selling lists becasue it is 'real'
4) Look for a ISP that provides filtering, I have roadrunner and hotmail. I get zero spam on the roadrunner address. Even the random address generating spam is not coming through. Hotmail on the other hand is spammed constantly. I have even noticed a marked decline in my wife's AOL spam, what used to be a hotmail level barrage has trickled down to 1 or 2 a day.
5) Filtering and spam blocking software is OK but on a dial up you still have to download it to filter it, I'd look at the ISP filtering option if you can so you can redirect/block it beofre the download via the dial up

Good luck

I would say as a general rule every time you unsubscribe, you are added to a minimum of 5 new lists since spammers sell/trade lists with each other. Is your email address listed on a website?

I only use Yahoo and several accts. As they say, one is for personal use and others are for when I sign up for something and know in the end I'll get spammed. Yahoo is good for that for it automatically places spam in a "bulk mail folder" you can delete with one click. Never gets into the regular inbox.

How can I see if my email address was listed? But to my experience I haven't seen one but i could have miss it.I've click on the 'unsubscribe' tab for all the time and got suspicious when there will be tons of spam flooding in just few days later...a major mistake!!

Just ignore spam. Don't look at it, don't click on anything, just delete it. Doing anything can let the spammer know that your e-mail is live and that you are actually paying attention to spam. At that point, everybody is going to want to spam you.

The horse is out of the barn now - time to get a new e-mail address and handle it more carefully this time. Much as I *hate* webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.), this is the best option on dialup these days. See if your ISP offers a webmail interface - Earthlink does, along with good server-side spam blocking.
