Angry Fire page cannot be displayed

Hello. I need some help if possible. I was up on IE and it was working fine, I tried to use it about 2 hrs later and I get page cannot be displayed. I have used spybot, no probs found. I used anti-virus, no problems found. I can ping every website I want from a cmd window but unable to pull them up in IE. I have 2 computers connected to a router and 1 works fine the other cant browse. I have switch ports on the router, rebooted router, cable modem and computer all with no luck. I am using windows XP on the machine with bad IE, does anyone have any suggestions??

Here is an update on my problem. I am still unable to get on the web with IE. I have went thru MSoft FAQ and tried several things including reloading IE but no luck. I have downloaded Mozilla and it works fine. I did have a virus called
trojan horse downloader.dyfica.h, but AVG found and got rid of it. I have ran Spybot, Adware remover, AVG, and Trojan horse remover, just to make sure it was gone. The virus must have done something but I just cant figure out what.

try going into your security options for IE and select custom then goto scripting and disable active scripting.

Thumbs up

I have found the problem and corrected. The problem was what the virus and adware left behind. It left a entry in my registry that was not on my computer. It was lsp.dll and I used a program called
LSP fix to correct it. It removed the entry and fixed the problem. Thanks wolfie27 for the suggestion, I tried but still didnt work so I found this from reading all over the web. Again thanks

Thanks

Thanks very much Belch

I had been having the same problem and i had to resort to using mozilla which just isn't the same as i can't access my bank details with it. I am also grateful that you came back and posted the reply and solution instead of just leaving it.

Thanks again and Happy Holidays

P.S it seems like every other topic in this forum is about "page cannot be displayed" and though they are all not the same problem through my desperate trawling of the internet i would think about 80% can be solved using this method so i think this should be pinned or kept bumped or posted on a help page somewhere as it was incredibly useful.
