Server Error - _vti_pvt\service.lck
I updated a website for a client. I redid an existing site in FrontPage. I built it all at my place using FrontPage XP and Xp Pro. They want to update the site themselves, as their catalog and inventory changes a lot. I copied the whole web folder for them, and copied it to the guys machine who is doing the updating. It is running FrontPage XP and Windows 98. When I try to open any of the websites from the hardrive, I get the following error message: SERVER ERROR The server extensions were unable to access the file "(several folders) _vti_pvt\service.lck. Please check the file permissions.
What am I doing wrong? I always updated the hard drive copy at home, and then published the website (so we would always have a backup). Why can't I do the same here? |

Thanks, but I really don't want to buy another service. There has to be a simple answer for what I'm trying to do. I can't see how a FrontPage website can only be accessed from the computer it was built on.
