Unhappy 'Quick Search' not wanted

When I click the 'Search' function on the Standard Tool Bar I usually get a window on the left that allows me to search using various search engines (based on how I set up the custome options). Suddenly this options displays a window that says Quick Search. The New, Next, and Customize buttons are still present in this window but are disabled by this program. I don't seem to be able to find a way to get rid of this search program using the control panel or internet options.

Any idea how to get back to using customized (yahoo, msn, excite, etc.) search engines.

I am using Internet Explorer version 6.0.2600

You have a adware/spyware program running on your machine and need to get adaware. Adaware is a free program offered by lavasoft and it is specifically designed to detect and remove adware/spyware programs. This link will take you to their download page.
Programs that embed themselves in your browser can be difficult to get rid of but this should do the trick, if not post back and we can try something more.

Thanks, I updated Ad-aware 6 and also added Ad-watch. After running Ad-aware and sending the results (154) to Quarantine I still have the Quick Search problem in my browser.

How about spybot search and destroy. If you are unfamiliar with this app it is like adaware.
Another one that is good and has a thirty day trial is webroots spy sweeper . Free trial download is at the bottom of the page.
