How do I use FTP
I was told by someone that if you put "ftp://"my I.P. adress" that i will be able to share all the files on my computer via the internet. If i give them permission of course. Could someone please explain to me exactly what FTP is and how it works. And also how i would go about setting it up. Thanks for the help.

Here's a program that I used to set up my FTP server:

Plus you have to make sure you have IIS or some other web server program installed.

don't think you need a web server, just an ftp server. i like ws_ftp or bulletproof personally

Are you wanting to run your own server, or just be able to access someone else's FTP server for uploading and downloading? You can do that with IE or any simple FTP client.

Whoever receives the files must run a server, so look at the above recommendations for Windows FTP servers.
For the client who's connecting, you can just use IE. ftp://user:password@my.friends.ip.address Drag and drop files into the window that such a link creates, and they'll be uploaded. |
