IE comes up with different pages than requested
Ok I have an unusual problem that I have not seen anyone report. I have IE 6.o and i'm running WinXP. I have the Google Pop up Blocker and I also use Spybot S&D, Ad-aware 6 and Spy Sweeper.
My problem is this: when I click on a site say Hotmail I get something else like espn.com or evite.com. Now mind you that i've used these other sites but i'm looking for hotmail. It doesn't happen all the time but it's happening all the time lately. I clear out my cache, clear out my history and then I delete files. I have run all the spyware and adaware software and it says all is clean. I was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar problem and if they could help me out. Much help is appreciated. This has become an annoying issue. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Download and run The Cleaner and CWShredder. Also, do a virus scan.

ok I've tried both The Cleaner and CWShredder and they didn't find anything. I also did a virus scan with PC-cillin and that didn't find anything else either.
I'm usually good at keeping my computer clean. I can't think of anything else that could make this happen. Could it be my ISP? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. |

Do a Find for Hosts and check its contents. Will need to use Wordpad to open it. Check the entries

What's the use of the HOSTS file? What do you do once you've seen its entries?

Here is a description of what the HOSTS file does.
patislesfan, go to Start/Search and do a search for HOSTS, then double click it to open up a window asking what to open it with...select wordpad or notepad. |
