net zero faster than any other isp?
hey everyone,
i've seen a couple commercials for net zero, claiming that they are faster than average isp's running through the same phone line. they even have testimonies of mallrats on which is faster. how do they accomplish this? is it with aggressive page caching or something?

Yes, from what I have read NetZero's HighSpeed service is accelerated by caching, as well as compressing images at the expense of image quality.
Of course, that means downloads, e-mail, and anything other than unencrypted web pages is the same speed as everywhere else. |

that's what i thought. my wife was asking me to sign up with them, but i kept telling here that it's the same phone line, they have to be altering the way stuff loads to make it load faster. i finally got her to understand it a little, and this will confirm it.

doctorgonzo, is there anyway to allow it to get full picture quality, or are you stuck with lesser picture quality as long as you have the High Speed service?

I had netzero for awhile and I found it to be faster b/c they cached the pages after my first visit to the site. But if I visited the page again later on, the same info would still be there and no updates from the site would be shown. So while sites updated news and such I wouldn't even know. That made me mad so I stopped using them.
