frequent disconnects

I have XP pro, IE6,and Actiontec V.92 Pci Pro hard modem.
I get disconnected form my 56K dial up quite often, I have disabled call waiting before I dial up. Any ideas?
Thanks

It could be that there is a short somewhere.

Try going around and looking at all your phone jacks in the house. Unscrew them from the wall. Take a look to see if there is a lot of dust and/or corrosion beween the wires. If there is, clean them out.

It could be your provider. You might contact them and tell them the problems your having.

I have exactly same hardware and was having problems with very slow connections and drops. I called phone co. and complained about intermittant static especially during rain. They came out and changed the phone line I was using at the pole. I now connect at 50.6 every time and no drops. If you complain to phone co. about poor speeds or drops they don't care, static on phone line seems to get action.

Good idea jamesrpm. I have some problems when it rains. My speed will drop from 52 to around 44. If I reconnect it will ,usually, be better. I'm calling the phone company tommorow, about my "static", as it's been raining here all day.

Send a message via Yahoo to catfishjoe_1
also check dial-up properties in control panel>internet options>connections>settings>advanced in dial-up settings to see if your auto disconnect boxes are checked. This is for win98. I would think xp would have this setting somewhere also.

I installed a different driver and it seems to have cured it.
Thanks for all the help.
