IE QuickSearch?

http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html

Quote:
If you've installed the QuickSearch utility for Internet Explorer, you can add Google to the list of search engines by adding a new entry (select New), setting up a shortcut gg, and a custom URL http://www.google.com/search?q=%s. With that, you'll be able to perform a search by entering "gg keywords" in the address bar. For example, "gg lava lamps" will search Google for lava lamps.
Is this not supported on IE 6? How come I can't find it anywhere because it sounds really useful.

For google to come up in your search bar, you have to do some registry edits.

Click start-run-type regedit
then follow these instructions

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Use Search Asst"="no"
"Search Page"="http://www.google.com"
"Search Bar"="http://www.google.com/ie"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"
"provider"="gogl"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
"SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"

Using Quicksearch is an excellent way to set up your search engines.
I have been using QS for over 2 years now and I have gotten so used to typing GG and then my search criteria, that I do it on other machines without thinking and of course I get no hits.
The nice thing about QS is you can set up any search engines you want with any shortcuts you want.

You can get it here.
It is for IE 5.0 but works fine in IE 6

Is it any better than just setting up google to search from your address bar?

ok I installed it, and if I am setting up links in the Quicksearch window, then click 'try' it works fine. but it won't work out of the actual address bar. Do I have to put a specific setting?
