problems with hotmail
A friend of mine downloaded somthing which filled her computer with spyware. She got rid of it all with spybot search and destroy. But She can't sign into hotmail or msnmessenger it says her password or username is wrong. I got her to reinstall msn messenger I really don't know what else to do. any sugestions? if all else fails im just going to reformat her computer because that is basicly all she uses it for.

hey Gamer...you know...I had a similar problem on my pc. I never was able to figure out what exactly it was. Does your friend have an AV program with up to date definitions? Run AdAware on the machine as well. AdAware and SpyBot go hand in hand. Sorry I couldn't provide a more direct solution.

She says that they are buying a virus scann.... I told her to go get the trial for norton antivirus but she couldn't load the norton webpage.... kinda weird hey. I also told her to get the latest updates for windows. She has 98 and the scan for updates thing didn't come up does it only work for xp, or is her computer just completely messed up?

no...windows update also works for 98SE. Have her go to www.windowsupdate.com. It will forward her to the right page and she can scan for updates. I've never used AVG but it's talked about quite abit here. My guess is its a virus that somehow changes the output of the keyboard. I guess its only in password boxes?? Anyway, hope that helps.

yeah that is where I told her to go she said taht it didn't give her to option to scan for updates. Would not having the updates affect hotmail..... I don't see that it would but it might.

I honestly don't think so. When I was having the problem, it went away by itself. I never really new what the problem was.
