shared email log - outlook
This seems like it would be a common request, but a quick search reveals nothing in either outlook help or these forums, so here goes:
If I want to share my email inbox with another computer so that when one is updated the other also updates automatically, can I use outlook? currently I can do this using the internet mail feature in 'Act', (a contacts database program) but have been unable to set it up in outlook. I'd have hoped that if I could do it in something as simple as Act email then it'd be supported in outlook, but then again maybe it only works because of act's simplicity. Does anyone know if this is possible? Ta, Keys PS. I am using windows XP professional sp1 with Outlook 6 installed. |

You have Outlook *Express*, not Outlook - and Express is not capable of doing this.

Here's the only way I've figured out how to do what you want.
A customer of mine has two computers used to retrieve the office's email. They want to be able to recieve the same mail on both. On both computers, go into Outlook Express>Tools>Accounts, double click the account you want to work with, go to the Advanced tab. Put a check mark in the box for "Leave a copy of messages on the server." Then check either "Remove from server after..." and enter the number of days you want that message to remain in the email server. (This will not delete them from your computer, just from the email server) or "Remove from server when deleted from the 'Deleted Items" folder (the one in Outlook Express), whichever you prefer. Click OK. You do have to delete them from the server eventually since if you use up the space alloted to your mailbox on the server, all new messages will be rejected by that server until you clean out your mailbox. |
