Question Internet Dial-Up Question

How can I dial-up the internet from my hotel/motel room when one has to dial "9" to access a local outside number?

I have an older laptop with a 56K modem installed. Net Zero and my ISP have provided me with local numbers around California when I travel. However, I can get the thing to work.

What am I doing wrong? I tried pluging the computer into the phone and directly into the RJ11 jack no luck.

Help!

Al

Somewhere in the Internet setup there is an option to put that number in.Its in Control Panel/Modem. The Dialing Rules tab,My Location/Edit.This is for XP but dont know what program you are running but it will be in this area somewhere.
