Spyware using modem=big phone bill??

A friend of mine just got his phone bill, $400 for international calls , he has dial up, a phone line used only for internet, no telephone plugged into this line. Ever hear of anything like this? He said his dial-up is still set to his usual provider, and
never heard the modem dialing while he was on internet except when he dialed his local provider.

Here is where you can download software to get rid of that spyware...

I would perhaps unplug the phoneline untill I got those programs cleaned out of there..
