Check out the bandwidth speed tests on http://www.dslreports.com Carl, they're pretty accurate, especially on the upload side. Xayd |

Xayd,
The tech had 5 kits in his truck but none were the 5660. What I got is a Altel Speed Touch Modem, mod#3ec18804gcaa01, and a Kingston NIC model #kne40t. The box describes it as a Etherx PCI ethernet adaptor, 10 base-t. My pc would not recognize this NIC or any others he had. He was willing to look at Raspppoe, but I had to Format and reinstall everything. Took to much time and he had another appointment. I will tell you that I went to MS update site and I d/l'd MS 5.5 in 3min 45sec. The tech gave me his work and home number plus his email address if I had any trouble. I was treated extremely well. Carl BTW, nothing is USB. He didn't like USB either. |

Well, that's a good thing at least, the USB part.
They might not be sending out the 5260's with the install techs, everyone I know got it with the "self install" package, along with a different network card. But the speed is amazingly addictive, isn't it? ![]() Xayd |

Xayd, the speed is fantastic. Here's some comments from the tech. His eyes got big when he saw how great a signal I had to the demarc. He also told me that he thought the new modem could also be easily changed into a router. He asked me about Raspppoe so I made a quick copy for him to study and he'll get back with me.
This tech was so nice and knowledgeable and willing to go out of his way that if he was 25-30 years older, I would have thought he was Sarge. ![]() Carl |

Carl, thanks. For 30 years I've tried to treat EVERY customer, no matter the problem, the way I'd like to be treated. It hasn't always been easy (weather, my mood, customers' mood, etc). It also helps to love your job and be willing to learn new stuff. I get so hacked at some techs who show up for a paycheck, period. Glad you got another SARGE
Again, congrats on the DSL, and don't be so uppity that you forget us who are stuck with "dial-ups"
