The best Website building software???

Can anyone recommend a good and easy to use package for building websites. I have had a quick look at Dreamwaever MX but it looked really confusing to me as a newbie.
Thanx

I am currently using dreamweaver, it did take me some time to get use to it. Play around with the commands. I'm not that good in html, so this does it for me. Guess its one of the better web design software around

Have u tried using frontpage. Its much more easier to use but it doesnt do the job well.

I have built a site with frontpage but really want to make something a bit more professional. Dreamweaver certainly gets raved about so maybe I'll have to buy it and figure it out, just didn't want to spend the money and not be able to use it!

HomeSite - mostly because its more of a glorified version of notepad (a notepad with color coding, and toolbars). I can't stand the proprietary stuff other programs throw in.

Homesite?

Have never heard of it before. I'll give it a try.

You have any links to the page Statica?

Coffe Cup Software has always had some inexpensive, easy to use, web page software.

HomeSite was initially by a small programmer, that went on to be bought by Allaire and now is packaged with Macromedia. I believe the newest version from Macromedia MX 2004 has HomeSite+, however HomeSite 5.5 is here: http://www.macromedia.com/software/homesite/

Actually none of them are any good in the wrong hands. Just learn HTML and look at how other sites do things. So the best tool to build a website is you.

I personally use and like Homesite. It is one of the few programs that has kept me on the Windows platform. It does require that you know HTML and is for Hand Coders.

frontpage is decent for the casual web page maker, but it throws in a lot of extra code, and specifically codes the page so that if you try to do anything fancy, it'll only look right in IE. As for geocities, again, decent for the casual web pager maker, but I wouldn't try anything too complex with it. It'll yell at you.

ric449, your site looks cool to me. I like the graphic you have used as the header. Has it all been done with Frontpage?

I made the graphical parts with paintshop, but the actual site was put together with frontpage.
