Hosting behind a router
Hey, im trying to host my website from my personal server (on my network). It all worked fine before i had a home network and it was just the ip. Now i know the ip to the router, and then the local ip, but im not sure how to access my server from the web now that it is behind the router.

Depending on make of your cable/DSL router the methods vary, but you need to open up the port to your server (80?) via port forwarding control, or whatever it's called in your router interface, you also need to know what your computer's IP address is as assigned by DHCP of the router (192.168.x.x). What OS and router are you using?

You are kidding. You are going to host a website on Windows 98?

nope not kidding. This is mainly just for testing purposes. I use this computer as my testing server, its got Apache, php, and mysql installed. Then i upload to a real webserver. I just need to know how to do this so i can show this to my friends, and let them test it out (website).
