Irritating plugin on Internet Explorer

I just made the mistake of downloading an irritating plugin for internet explorer 6 which causes frequent popups which get past my blocker and re-assigns my homepage to something random every time I open a new browser window. What's worse I can't find a way to eliminate it.

It's a very obnoxious plugin, does this company have an address which can be bombed? (Kidding)

Thanks,

Spork.

Download Spybot S&D and do a system scan:

Spybot also has an option to uninstall ActiveX components, I think you'll find the plugin there.

Alright, downloading it now, lessee if it works. I think it might be a more involved process though...

Hmmm... got rid of a lot of stuff that ad-aware doesn't so it's good software, but I'm still getting popups that confound my blocker, and also my home page is still getting re-assigned to things I don't want. (contexualsearch.something or other) I found a thread here once that lead to a page that showed how to manually remove this problem but I can't find it any more. Thanks for all the help thus far!

Still having issues.

I guess this company is not affiliated with cool web search because CWShredder isn't finding anything and I'm still getting my homepage automatically assigned to contexualsearch.com and getting popups which pass my blocker.

Did a quick search & found this mvps site which may help. Also, if you go to Computer Cops Forum there's a link on the left to d/l HijackThis - then you can post & they'll read the log for you.

HTH & Good Luck!
