Network

You've probably had many threads like this before, but I'll bother you again...
I have two computers , both with network modems and I am trying to link them up to each other so I can keep them synchronized. I also have a Network cable which I have used to link the two DIRECTLY.
HOWEVER, after much network wizard use, the same thing always comes up: Network cable unplugged.
A bit of detailed help please!!!

You need a CROSSOVER cable to connect them directly.

A crossover cable is a network cable that is used to link 2 PCs together. It has 8 pins and a RJ 45 plug. It looks like a Twisted Pair, but the wiring is different.

Unless at least one of your NICs is a Gigabit one, you do need a crossover cable to connect them correctly.

Also what do you mean by internet cable ? There is no internet cable, you use the same (twisted pair. . and some others) for internet.

So you're sure you have a crossover ?

Can you ping the other computer ? Do you have a firewall running ?
