ISP with no downloads/ software?
Folks,
I would like to be able to pay for my intenet service and just use a phone # and account info. As it stands, AOL, MSN, Bluelight/Juno, and every other one i can find all require some software installation. This is silly, as XP has built in network connex. I also think that it is the reason that i cannot nix these pop up ads any other way. (Google toolbar, kill Messenger, use Mozilla, Adaware and Spybot). It is the only thing left to do. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim |

James,
Earthlink does not require the software. I believe glc can help in that regard. Also, where are you located? http://www.softcom.net/index.php This is a California/Nevada ISP you can check out. No frills or ads. They send a packet of papers with instructions to help you with DUN Carl |

Have you tried setting up a dial up connection in Internet Options? When i was on dial up, that was how I got connected. I had Juno, then MSN and AOL as ISPs.
Hth, e.n.

i'm sure there are local isp's in your area that offer just basic internet access. look in the yellow pages.

Or search the Yahoo directories for ISP's within your town/city.

Joi Internet. It's inexpensive and will tell you how to set up the system w/o external program.

Can't beat Earthlink for that. No software required (although offered), server side virus and spam email filtering, both POP3 and Webmail, access numbers almost everywhere.
