VNC help...

can any one help me wth a VNC problem.... ive installed the VNc program and when i go to check the IP address it should give me all it shows me is my network IP!!

im connected to a network and the other computer in the house which set up all the internet crap does give out a ip address!!!


any help would help....

you don't have to type in the IP, just type in the computers name. right click on my computer, properties, computer name.

i was gonna use it over the internet... so you need an IP address...

Make sure you have the right ip, www.whatismyip.com
Then make sure the right port is open for VNC if they are useing a firewall.

i no my IP cos i have me own server runnin at the mo.... it might be my firewall

Try running the IP in DMZ or forwarding the ports. Maybe that should help.

VNC only tells you your network IP, that site will tell you the ip that is used online. That is the IP someone needs to connect to you over the internet.

Please post some details on how you are connected to the Internet and how your network is set up. VNC needs some ports opened/forwarded or allowed as an application, depending on your setup.
