Web browsing issue

A particular site that I visit daily suddenly would not load about a month ago. I just thought the site was down because it would not load on any of my pc's at home. Today I was trying out an anonymizer and the site loaded just fine. I looked through the forum on this site and it has been up all along because there are posts for every day for the past month. I shut down the anonymizer and the site will not load. Anybody ever had an issue such as this? Seems like a modem or router problem to me.

Were you by any chance banned from the site? Or maybe you blocked it somehow?

There is no reason for me to be banned. And my screenname still works when the anonomous proxy is running. I've tried with a brand new pc with a fresh install and it still would not work. I've also tried from a Linux OS and it wouldn't work. So I know it's not a browser setting or browser related. It must be an ISP, cable modem, or router issue.

It does sound like your IP address not your screenname has been blocked. I would check with the forum admin to make sure. You may try logging on to the site from another computer not in your network and see if that fixes it.

Could it be a "HOSTS" problem?

Actually I have just realized that another site has the same problem. That's two totally different sites that give me the cannot find server error.

Sounds good to me. It's something along these lines.

I couldn't get into a site a few days ago. They could tell I had tweaked some MTU settings.

Tried the MTU settings. Tried the Hosts file. No luck. Then I unhooked the router and hooked the computer straight into the cable modem and everything worked great. Apparently it's the router. Any tweaks/settings for a Netgear 54g router that could fix this problem?

Got it. Not sure what the issue was exactly, but a firmware upgrade to the router fixed it.
