Text Size on Internet pages
Hello,
some web pages which i visit appear with quite small text characters, these pages don't fill my 17'' monitor and quite a lot of screen space is a sort of empty. Q1. Does this have to do with my screen resolution (1280x960) ? Q2. How can i increase the size of the characters? I tried with the View-Text Size but only some characters got larger, some kind of headlines. I use the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. It would be very helpful to be able to change the text size, make it larger and easier to read, (also the printouts) of some newspapers, articles etc. Thank you.

It depends on how the web designer designed the site. If they used CSS and fixed pixel sizes, then you can't adjust the font size using IE for those. You can install the Netscape or Firefox browsers which totally ignore the fixed fonts if it becomes a problem. You can also contact the webmaster of the site and express your displeasure.

I don't know about the printout size, but if you hold down the Ctrl key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse that will change some of the text on web pages. I also use IE6.

I like mairving's suggestion of using FireFox. I've been using it for quite awhile and it's a heck of a browser, much better than IE in my opinion.
Anyways, if you want to change the text size in IE, try going to View > Text Size > and then choose the one that suites your needs. |

If a designer codes in the font sizes in pixels they can't be changed in IE by the View/Text Size. The only solution is to use another browser or go to a different site.

If the website it coded in CSS, the ctrl+wheel scroll or the MSIE text size don't work. Yes, it has to do with your screen resolution - the bigger it is, the smaller it seems, usually. If you reduce it down to 1024x768, it should look nice - try it once.
Hope that helps, kram
