How much are you paying for broadband?
How much are you guys paying for broadband monthly? I got a flyer in the mail for Adelphia Powerlink and its 26.95 a month for 12 months. I've been wanting cable internet for a loooong time now, and this may be the promotion that'll get my parents to say yes. Currently the standard rate for Adelphia Powerlink is 43.95 (yuck). So, I hope that if I do get it, it'll be cheaper than 43.62 after 12 months.
so... I just want to know how much people are paying for broadband. |

44.95 plus TT&L
Do you have a second telephone line for the dial up? If so you can argue that if you get rid of the second line - that savings and the cost for the dial up added together is likely close to to cost for broadband. If not then you have to get into the whole how much is time worth to the users of dial up vs the extra cost for broadband.... easier to do in a business environment of course, but maybe some family members can get access to work over broadband and work from home when they need to (sick days/sick kid days/bad weather days etc) and that might tip the scales.

It's easy to justify the cost of broadband because I use VoIP for my phone service as well. Thus, I don't even pay for a phone line. $45 for cable internet + $30 for my phone service from Vonage is not much different from $50-60 (at least) for a phone line from Qwest + $10 for cheap dialup.

Is paying $54.99 for 1.5/256 with full phone service. With just basic phone service, I would have to pay $10 more.

Comcast here. I have both my broadband and cable tv on same line in. Total bill is $86 with $42 of that for broadband. If you only have broadband if costs $54 per month.

$44.95 a month, its Time Warner Road Runner cable. Its 100Mbps, its hella fast. ADSL is gonna be cheaper than cable because its alot slower. I dont have a phone, just my cell phone. Verizon wanted to charge me 80 bucks to come out and setup our phone line? I dont know, so i just told them to forget it. Its weird when i hook a phone up, i have a dial tone but its to someone else. Like people will call and someone else will pick up and i can listen in on their calls, but i dont of course lol (unless its something juicey). Its like the line is connected to more than one apartment. but thats not my faullt, its their fault, they should fix it for free.

No, it's not 100Mbps, that's the speed of your nic being reported. Your true speed is probably closer to 2Mbps.
